About Us

Abbey Farm is a 270 acre farm located a short distance from the quiet market town of Thame on the borders of Oxfordshire with Buckinghamshire.

Only minutes from Junctions 7 & 8 of the M40 it is extremely well suited to anyone wishing to get away for that idyllic, tranquil break be it for a short stay or longer.

With a footpath and bridleway a few hundred yards from the cottage, a cycle path at the farm entrance which links to the Phoenix Trail cycle route and private walks and fishing along the River Thame that runs through the farm, you have much to enjoy on your doorstep!

We moved to Abbey Farm in 2009 and have gradually reverted half the farm back to grass and have entered a large proportion of our land into environmental schemes to promote ground nesting birds such as Curlew and Skylark via low input grassland. We have planted approximately 12,000 trees and over 3km of hedging. Our livestock are fenced off the watercourses to protect the river banks and we don’t apply sprays or fertiliser to these environmentally diverse areas. We have seen a variety of other wildlife including Barn Owls, Kingfisher, Voles, Otter, Hares, Rabbits and Deer.

One of the highlights on the farm that can be enjoyed from the comfort of all our accommodation is a large family of Red Kite that regularly provide beautiful acrobatic displays.

We are most happy to allow guests to walk around the farm to enjoy the surrounding areas and join nearby footpaths and bridleways.

We have two very different types of properties on offer; Red Kite Cottage, recently refurbished and finished to a high spec with careful design to create a cottage with a bright, sunny aspect. The cottage is ideal for 4 but if you have an extra child or two or perhaps an overnight visitor, then the sofa bed can be used.

Then there are our Shepherds Huts discretely nestled into the sloping rural landscape, Kites Nest and The Roost are totally self contained, heated and insulated, they provide a wonderful glamping experience for two.
